Use of Botulinum Toxin in the Treatment of Androgenic Alopecia

Phase 2 Active, not recruiting status last verified 2024-03

A registered clinical trial, reproduced from its ClinicalTrials.gov record. Every value on this page is a field on that record. Nothing on this page is a finding, an assessment or a recommendation.

What it measures

  1. Changes from baseline in hair count per cm2 (number of hairs per follicular unit)

Time frame: Day 30, Day 90, Day 180, and Day 270

  2. Changes from baseline in sum of hair width per cm2 (total scalp coverage)

Time frame: Day 30, Day 90, Day 180, and Day 270

  3. Changes from baseline in Terminal:Vellus ratio (number of terminal hairs for every one vellus hair).

Time frame: Day 30, Day 90, Day 180, and Day 270

  4. Changes from baseline in Average hairs per follicular unit (average number of hairs within a hair follicle).

Time frame: Day 30, Day 90, Day 180, and Day 270

  5. Changes from baseline in Average hair width (microns) (average thickness of hair in microns).

Time frame: Day 30, Day 90, Day 180, and Day 270

  6. Changes from baseline in Follicle count per cm2 (number of follicles per square centimeter).

Time frame: Day 30, Day 90, Day 180, and Day 270

  7. Mean Inter-follicular distance (mm) (mean distance between follicular units).

Time frame: Day 30, Day 90, Day 180, and Day 270

Primary outcome measures only, as registered. What a trial chose to measure, and when, is the most informative thing about it that is knowable before it reports — a hair-count endpoint at 24 weeks and a patient-satisfaction endpoint at 12 weeks are not the same study.

"Estimated" and "actual" are the registry's own labels: an estimated date is a plan, and plans move. A date is printed at the precision it was registered at: a primary completion registered as 2024-12 is a month, and rendering it as 1 December 2024 would invent a day the sponsor did not register.

Results

This trial has not reported results. ClinicalTrials.gov holds no results record for it. That is the ordinary state of a trial that is running or about to run, and it means there is nothing here to tell you about whether the intervention works — including nothing negative. If this page implied otherwise it would be wrong.

Guides covering the condition this trial is registered for. They are about published evidence; this page is about a registration, and the two do not overlap.

Where this came from

Read from the ClinicalTrials.gov API on 6 September 2026 and rebuilt into this page without alteration. ClinicalTrials.gov is a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine and is the authority on this record; where this page and the registry disagree, the registry is right. This page is not affiliated with or endorsed by NLM or NIH, or with the sponsor of this trial.
